Meghalaya cricketer Akash Choudhary has opened up on how he wants to focus on his team and performance, not thinking a lot of the First-Class record he recently broke after smashing eight consecutive sixes. He brought up his half-century in just 11 deliveries during the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy Plate match.
The right-arm medium pacer admitted that the feat might take a long time to be eclipsed. However, healso expressed that the record will not let put him under any pressure right now or even in the future.
“It won’t change much overnight. I still have to keep doing the same things – go out there, bowl for my team, take wickets and bat according to the situation. It should boost my confidence. It might help me, but I’m not thinking about it. None of that is in my control. I’m just playing cricket and focusing on my performance. I’ll think about it when the time comes, but I’m not taking any pressure on myself,” stated Choudhary, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Instead, Choudhary remains focused on Meghalaya’s final group-stage encounter against Manipur, which is scheduled to commence on November 16. He also commented that the team’s main objective stays to return to the Elite group of India’s domestic competitions across formats.
“We just have one league game left (vs Manipur) – and it’s an important one for us. If we want to reach the final, we have to do well there. We’ve already lost (the opportunity to win) two games because of rain, so this last match really matters. As a team, our goal is to move up to the Elite group in all three formats – and stay there,” he added.
Meghalaya won the contest played at the Pithwala Stadium in Surat by an innings and 446 runs after Arunachal were bowled out for 73 and 109. Arpit Bhatewara was awarded the Player of the Match award for his 207-run knock in Meghalaya’s sole innings.
