‘Can’t wait to see your commentary’ – Fans await Irfan Pathan’s arrival after he gets stuck in traffic before World Cup final

The ODI World Cup 2023 final sees India take on Australia in the marquee clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. As the game began, fans quickly noticed the absence of former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan in the commentary team.

Many took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wondered where Irfan Pathan was. It is worth noting that the former Indian all-rounder took a private chartered flight to Ahmedabad after playing a match-winning knock in the first game of the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC).

Pathan was quick to take to X as he informed the fans about his situation. The 39-year-old wrote, “The whole world is coming to Ahmedabad. But badly stuck in traffic. First air traffic, now on the road. Can’t wait to reach the ground.”

Irfan Pathan’s masterclass propels Bhilwara Kings to brilliant win in LLC

Speaking of Irfan Pathan’s performance, the former all-rounder put in a brilliant performance in the season opener of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023. The first game saw defending champions India Capitals take on Bhilwara Kings at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Saturday, November 18.

The clash began with Capitals batting first and posting a mammoth total of 228 runs in 20 overs. Skipper Gautam Gambhir was the highest wicket-taker, with 63 runs to his name in 35 deliveries. In the first innings, Irfan Pathan took one wicket and conceded 31 runs in two overs. 

Coming in to chase down the target, Bhilwara Kings got off to a good start as Solomon Mire scored 70 runs in 40 deliveries. Furthermore, it was the knock of Irfan Pathan that finished the game for Kings and won them the game. Pathan scored 65* runs in just 19 deliveries, and chased the target, winning the game for his side by three wickets.
