Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and in-form Australian batter Travis Head have been found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Head starred in the encounter with a match-winning innings of 140 in the first innings and orchestrated a 10-wicket win for the home side on Sunday, December 8.
On Monday, the ICC announced a 20 per cent fine on Siraj’s match fee after he was found to have breached article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.”
Meanwhile, Head too was sanctioned after being guilty of breaching Article 2.13 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to the “abuse of a player, player support personnel, umpire or match referee during an international match.”
The two players received one demerit point each on their disciplinary records, marking their first offence within the last 24 months. Both players admitted their respective offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by Match Referee Ranjan Madugalle.

The Pink-Ball Test at the iconic Adelaide Oval got over inside seven sessions as Australia reigned supreme, winning the one-sided encounter by a thumping margin of 10 wickets. Tempers flared during the high-voltage encounter, as Head and Siraj got into a heated altercation on the field. The Indian pacer also threw a ball back at Marnus Labuschagne after the batter had backed away from facing a delivery. The Aussie batter got distracted by a fan, who held a beer snake in his hand.
After his antics during the second Test, the Adelaide crowd showed their displeasure and booed the Hyderabad-born speedster vehemently. The two teams in world cricket will square off once again at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane in the third Test, which begins on Saturday, December 14.
