Alexander Isak will finally end his time at Newcastle United this evening and join Liverpool before the deadline.
Isak has been accused of bad behaviour for his role in forcing a move away from the Magpies as he has always chased a switch to Liverpool.
The Swedish frontman had seen a £110million offer from the Reds knocked back earlier in this window but he hoped to see another offer from the club accepted.
Newcastle had maintained throughout the summer that they did not want to sell and that was not what the player was looking for. We told you how Isak issued a statement demanding a move and insisting promises to him had been broken.
The club snapped back and admitted that they would welcome him back with open arms. However it is now being reported that Isak’s deal to Liverpool has finally been agreed with the number hitting as much as £130m with no add-ons.
It will be a relief to the player as well as Arne Slot’s Liverpool but it does come at a bit of a cost to the 25-year-old who comes out of the saga with questions over his loyalty.
Alexander Isak will receive no Newcastle United loyalty bonus
That, indeed, is where the issue lies for the forward player after Newcastle United opted to negotiate his bonuses out of the contract with regards to his exit.
The Tyneside outfit were due to pay the frontman as part of his contract.
However with relation to the deal, it is being claimed by Liverpool.com that the Magpies will no longer have to spend money on that particular clause.
Isak did not hand in an official transfer request despite going out of his way to try and force a move any other possible way.
And that would have come down to the fact that he would not have been eligible for certain contractual bonuses – including the loyalty fee – had he done so.
Newcastle’s striker replacements for Isak
But regardless of that fact, it appears that Eddie Howe’s club no longer have to worry about it as part of his move to Anfield.
Another issue for Newcastle which might hurt the club is the fact that Real Socieded – Isak’s former club – had a 10 percent sell-on clause for the player.
That sees the Spanish side land a hefty sum of cash considering the end fee that Liverpool have agreed to pay.
Newcastle will now be pushing extra hard to get late business done to replace Isak.
It looks as if it will be wantaway Brentford man Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart who both join.
